Photography Workshop vs. Photo Tour vs. Photo Walk

A photography workshop is an immersive learning experience designed to help people move their photography to the next level.  In a workshop, the leaders endeavor to get you to the best places, at the times of day, and help envision what your art can be.  A photo tour, on the other hand, is designed to get you to some good places to shoot but you’re pretty much on your own when it comes to getting help.  Then there’s the photo walk. You can think of a photo walk as a group of friends getting together to take some photos somewhere of interest.  The main focus of a photo walk is social interaction.

What is your refund and cancellation policy ?

We offer refunds with some limitations. To fully understand our policy, we ask that you read our Workshop Terms and Conditions. We strongly suggest that you obtain travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances that might require you to cancel your participation in a 256 Shades of Gray Workshop.

What should I bring to a workshop ?

What you should bring along depends of the the specifics of the workshop that you’ve enrolled in. For landscape photography we strongly recommend you bring along a set of graduated neutral density filters; either the screw type or a filter holder kit. For Long Exposure workshops we suggest that you bring a complete set of long exposure filters consisting of a 3-stop, 6-stop, and 10-stop filter. We’re also strong believers in using a tripod.

What happens if there’s bad weather ?

Well, make lemonade. Be sure to bring along appropriate foul weather gear for you and your camera.  Some of the best images can be crafted from photographs taken on “bad weather days”.  Stormy skies make for great drama, uniform gray skies make for some nice diffuse light.

Unless otherwise noted, transportation, transfer fees, airfare, car rental and any other form of paid transport is not included; activities noted as optional in the itinerary; all gratuities, unless otherwise noted in the itinerary; passport and visa expenses; medical expenses and immunizations; baggage/accident/cancellation insurance; personal expenses, such as laundry, telephone calls, meals (except as indicated in the itinerary) alcoholic beverages; and any other items not specifically noted as included.

Transportation between shooting locations is done by attendees private transport unless otherwise noted. Attendees are free to arrange among themselves carpooling as desired.
